Quality display for all-round use of credit card terminals
Brightness-sensitive displays improve the mobile usability of credit card readers at the point of sales: Elektrosil developed an innovative display solution with a customised cable connection.
The challenge
A market leader for cash terminals needed a high-quality touch display with specified brightness, size, and resolution for its payment terminal with NFC reading technology. Further specifications included a cable with customised PIN assignment to connect the existing hardware platform to the display.

The solution
Elektrosil supplied an industrial touch display with a wide viewing angle and modified backlight. High-quality LEDs with a service life of more than 50,000 hours ensure excellent readability, even outdoors. The display solution was completed by an ambient light sensor system, which enables situational brightness adjustment and therefore also a longer service life of the LEDs.
The next step was to connect the display to the hardware board according to customer-specific specifications: The engineering team assembled a cable and precisely implemented the individual PIN assignment. The customer undertook the design of the housing to suit the display and connection technology concept. Finally, the developers constructed a plastic holder for the display and cable on the circuit board. In combination with a rubber seal, the result was a hardware display unit which accurately fitted the housing.
