Many applications in the kiosk and the digital signage markets use touch screens as the man-machine interface. Elektrosil’s infrared touch screens use the principle of a light barrier: IR-LEDs and phototransistors are placed on a pcb-frame and create a grid of IR light beams. Over the last two years the market has become more and more influenced by a special feature called multipoint –touch. The first research activities on this technology started back in 1982, but since Apple’s iPhone was released there has been a huge hype surrounding this revolutionary input method.
But what does multipoint-touch functionality mean?
